The advancing of cooperation between Morocco and the EU: More than an association, less than a membership?

The action plan made by the European Union with Morocco is according to Mr. Landaburu, âThe most important, the most dense and the most ambitious.' His statement was proclaimed in a conference organized by the Amadeus Institute at The Institute of Political Studies (IPS) in Paris entitled 'The advanced status of Morocco-EU: More than an association, less than a membership?'
This plan has a "characterized reciprocal engagement'' noted the Director General of the European Union External Affairs Commission. He underlined that the advanced status Morocco is aspiring to, is a "framework which goes further than current relations between Morocco and the European Union in different exiting fields of cooperation.
During this meeting where diplomats and high powered heads took part along with Moroccan and European researchers and graduates, Eneko Landaburu underlined that the European Union has 'good reasons to refine more its relations with Morocco,' and gave an example of Morocco wanting to become closer with Europe whether it being in the process of democratisation and modernisation as well as reinforcing political dialogue.
In stating that the European Union is for an advanced status with Morocco, Mr Landaburu underlined that the European Union equally supports the formidable process of modernisation, of democratization and of economic development, engaged by the Kingdom of Morocco.
'Morocco is engaged to a reform of improving the democratic conditions and of a serious economic development that is marked and noticed,' he said before adding that 'Morocco is a partner which has approached to what is considered by the European Union as essential elements in politics such as prosperity, democracy and an economic development that allows the increase and creation of jobs and the assertion of fair goods.'
