Africa
Africa is home to the largest number of LDC (Least Developed Countries) and conflicts in the world. Morocco belongs to this tormented continent, and the Amadeus Institute, therefore, has a special responsibility to focus on the Kingdom’s regional and sub-regional environment.
Far from taking an Afro-pessimistic or an Afro-optimist stance, the Institute studies all possible evolutions that could bring an effective development model and a new mode of regional conflict management to the continent.
Focus is centered on co-development and security. We must bear in mind that Morocco’s position vis à vis Africa is complex: though it is a founding member of the Africa Union, Morocco withdrew in 1983 and is now the only African country excluded from this regional organization.
Through it economic presence and military contribution to peacekeeping troops, Morocco plays a significant role on the continent. The Amadeus Institute’s conferences aspire to create the impetus necessary to increase Africa’s international influence and define Morocco’s role in supporting this movement.
