The Amadeus Institute participates in the Beijing Seminar on “Peace and Development in Africa”
The Institute participated in the seminar on "Peace and Development in Africa," which was in Beijing from March 30-31, 2010 and was hosted by the Chinese government. The Chinese African program on scientific research and academic exchanges was launched with the participation of over a hundred experts both parties, including Morocco.
The program will enable academics, research centres and think tanks to equip themselves with the tools needed to consolidate cooperation and exchange in the areas of academic and scientific research between both parties.It also plans to organise seminars and publications aimed at contributing to the consolidation of cooperation and reinforcing the China-Africa partnership.
The Chinese State Councillor, Dai Bingguo, believes that, thanks to this program, his country will increase its cultural exchanges with Africa and augment its experience in the field of development. He also highlights the measures proposed by the Chinese Prime minister at the Sharm El-Sheikh Conference, including the commitment of Beijing to provide ten billion dollars in loans, at preferential rates, to African countries.
At the official launch of the program, a seminar was organized under the theme “Peace and development in Africa.” It discussed issues pertaining to the prevention of conflicts on the continent, including security, regional integration and promotion of Sino-African cooperation.
